more playing in the kitchen
Finally redeemed a birthday gift card for an immersion blender which I am happy to say transformed a butternut squash into the lovely soup below. Now all I need is the promised snowflakes of today.
Now, find a weird Asian market, get cheap dried mushrooms and a box of silken tofu... and find a few fresh mushrooms. A bit of milk. White pepper. Salt. Immersion blender.
You will now make a cream o' mushroom soup which rivals Campell's for creaminess and deliciousness. And you will enjoy it deeply. And sigh. And imagine cooking it for cranky international people. Or something. Although, maybe you'd best brush up on your borscht.
Oooooo!!! I shall wander into the Asian district today. As our football insanity is over, the streets are now accessible by car again. I have broccoli that needs to get used this week, plus two more squash. SO much better than pouring things in the blender.
And my beets are roasted with garlic and served with cherve, thank you very much.
Having bought toys for Christmas, I applaud your new "toy" - may it produce more successes.
