A Dime a Dozen

Today's delight brought a found dime and delicious Indian food with a long-time friend. Who left me with a large bag of peaches so fresh they were still warm from the August sun.

Chinese Penny

Not sure what this is, it is so chewed up, but I can make out Asian lettering on one side. So far this summer, have found a Mexican coin and now this. Tri-lingual good luck!

After this noisy week, I headed to the Arboretum to catch up with my soul. Sat by a tranquil pond and laughed myself to tears over a female mallard who came parading up to me in vain hopes of snackage--with a algae boa strung around her neck.

For those who would malign me by saying I find my change in the offering plate, every bit of money that I find is on the ground or upon the asphalt. And there is no one else reaching for it at the time I pick it up.

It's really August now--although it was pouring rain during the Perseids, I picked the season's first blackberries this afternoon. The cliche 'meltingly ripe' held true.

And also on same walk, found three very soggy $1 bills.

Found another two pennies on my morning's rambling. I find this trend so curious. Also have a school interview lined up for this week. Daily delights.

Two Cents

Was today's find, on the literal level. Other small delights of the week: sitting next to a chatty lady in church on Sunday yielded me a full tour of St. Margaret's facilities and a possible ally in this job hunt. Faculty backing out at the last minute for a summer arts' academy just opened up a one-week gig possibility.

It is the small things in life that make it endurable.

$.63 was my score in yesterday's parking lot stroll! Discovered, for the first time, that all the heads/faces on the coins face to the left, except for Mr. Lincoln. Anyone know why?

Not sure if this qualifies as delightful, but it made me laugh endlessly at this bird's optimism.

but a little out of reach! I did find another one in a parking lot, so there was still delight and monetary increase achieved.

Figuratively Literal

Found a penny and a dime this morning. I wonder what it is that delights me so in finding coinage on the roadway. But the true cadeau du jour was this gorgeous blue heron on Silver Lake.

One of the simple delights that I've encountered in Seattle is the exquisite care that is put into making a perfect cup of coffee. From the beans selected, to the foamy milk to the hand crafted cup, it's all a work of art. This is yesterday's mocha. A moment of divinity.
